Welcome to the VIII Jornadas Ibéricas de Fotoquímica (8’JIF) & I Franco-Iberian Conference on Photochemistry (1’FICP)
The Grupo de Fotoquímica of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Química (SPQ) and the Grupo Especializado de Fotoquímica of the Real Sociedad Española de Química (GRUFO-RSEQ) are pleased to invite you to participate in the Eighth Jornadas Ibéricas de Fotoquímica (8’JIF). This year marks a significant milestone as we join forces with the Photochimie, Photophysique et Photosciences division (SP2P) of the Société Chimique de France (SCF) to host the inaugural Franco-Iberian Conference on Photochemistry (1’FICP).

Pre-Conference Training School: September 10th, 2024
Building on the success of previous conferences in Santiago de Compostela, Faro, Granada, Lisbon, Toledo, Aveiro, and Madrid, the 8’JIF/1’FICP aims to foster collaboration among Portuguese, Spanish, and French photochemistry communities. This event will delve into the latest advancements in both fundamental and applied photochemistry, spanning a broad array of chemical, physical, and biological processes studied through the use of light.
Venues
The VIII Jornadas Ibéricas de Fotoquímica (8'JIF) will take place at the stunning Academia das Ciências de Lisboa. Nestled in the heart of Lisbon, this historic institution has been a beacon of scientific excellence since 1779.
The Training School will take place at the NOVA School of Science and Technology Library, at Caparica.
Presentation Guidelines
Plenary Lectures: 40 minutes and 5 minutes questions/discussion
Invited Lectures: 25 minutes and 5 minutes questions/discussion
Oral Presentations: 12 minutes and 3 minutes questions/discussion
Poster Presentations: Maximum and recommended size: A0 (841 x 1189 mm)
Meals and Social Events
Welcome Reception: A small welcome reception with drinks and snacks will be held at the Conference Venue on the evening/late afternoon of September 10th.
Lunches: Lunches are included with the registration fee and will be served in the conference venue.
Conference Dinner: The registration fee includes the Conference Dinner. It will be held on September 12th, at the enchanting Casa do Alentejo, offering a unique atmosphere that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Alentejo region, right in the heart of Lisbon.
Training School
The Training School will take place on Tuesday, September 10th. The coffee breaks and lunch are included with the registration. A shuttle bus will also be available for those wishing to attend the Welcome Reception.
Awards and Prizes
With the generous sponsorship of Chemistry Europe, we will be awarding two prizes to young researchers: a €150 Wiley book voucher for the Best Oral Presentation and another €150 Wiley book voucher for the Best Poster Presentation
